APK (Android Package Kit) is the file format used by Android for installation of mobile apps. Installing APK files is easy, but it may not always be useful or safe.

In recent scam cases, hackers used & modified APK files by adding in an extra app permission, which then led unsuspecting users unknowingly transfer valuable personal information, such as banking details, to hackers from the device.
